Latvia's armed forces reported using a BLAZE interceptor UAV to deal with an unidentified airborne object near the border with Russia.
On the evening of November 1, an air raid alert was announced in the border areas of Latvia, after which the army launched an interception.
However, the unidentified object left Latvian airspace and returned to Russia, so it could not be destroyed.
Three minutes later, as BLAZE neared the border, the military activated its self-destruct mechanism to prevent the interceptor from accidentally flying into Russian territory.
The BLAZE in use was developed by the Latvian company Mekor Robotics and is designed to destroy UAVs using a high-fragmentation warhead.
