American companies Androil and Qualcomm presented the BlueChip project - the production of protected laptops for the US military, government agencies and emergency services with the gradual abandonment of foreign components. The first laptop will be built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X ARM processor, which provides computing, graphics processing and local operation of artificial intelligence. The assembly of printed circuit boards is planned to be organized at the Andoril Arsenal-1 plant in Ohio, and the production of the processors themselves will be established at the TSMC plant in Arizona. According to the company, more than 90% of the cost of components of the first prototype was accounted for by suppliers from the United States and allied countries, but some components, including the display panels themselves, still have to be bought in China. According to Palmer Masli, the laptop will be about 20% more expensive than premium equivalents, but also more powerful, albeit heavier, and with less battery life - an inevitable price to pay for reducing dependence on suppliers from China and countries close to it. In the future, the company is expected to expand this cash register beyond the military sector, including conventional consumer computers. @igal levin.
