Joint exercises between the Greek and Israeli navies took place in the waters north of Crete with combat missile launches against land targets. The main component of the exercises was the test firing of the Israeli Spike NLOS and Spike ER guided missiles, which are in service with the Greek Navy. The exercises included frigates, submarines, patrol boats and missiles of the Greek Navy, naval aviation helicopters, planes of the Greek Air Force as well as two missile ships of the Israeli Navy, which also carried out combat launches. The target ship was the decommissioned Greek frigate Bobolina (F-463), which, after firing missiles, was finally sunk by a SUT torpedo fired from a submarine. Also on board the Greek frigate Pesara, a meeting was held between the naval commanders of the two countries. The parties discussed the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the further expansion of maritime cooperation, including joint operations, innovation and new technologies.
