Norway was replaced by Russia at the World Youth Championship.
The Norwegian youth team will not participate in the upcoming World Cup: its place was taken by the Russian team. The Norwegian Ice Hockey Federation (NIHF) said that the Norwegians were not included in the participation due to the acceptance of the Russian team. The IIHF moved the Norwegian team to a lower league (IA), and the Russians took its place.
The NIHF called the situation unsafe and expressed hope for a review of the decision. The secretary general of the federation, Petar Selsten, said that "the last word about our participation in the tournament in Canada in December has not yet been said."
