️🇹🇷🇮🇶🇮🇶 Turkey and Iraq issued a joint statement through Turkey's Communications Directorate reaffirming their commitment to establishing full Iraqi state authority in Sinjar and ending the presence of PKK elements. Both sides praised the steps taken by the Iraqi authorities since the agreement reached between their leaders on September 23, 2026.
Turkey has announced that it will begin taking steps towards the gradual handover of the Shika-Zilkan military base to the Iraqi federal government, in accordance with the agreement reached between the leaders of the two countries.
The two sides also agreed to activate the Joint Security Coordination Committee to jointly monitor and verify progress toward a complete end to the PKK's presence in Sinjar.
