️🇺🇸🇨🇦 WSJ: US Democrats are preparing to make US President Trump's tariffs on Canadian goods their first major target when they take control of Congress in January.
Senate Finance Committee Democrat Ron Wyden has called for eliminating the duties to be a priority, arguing that they raise prices and hurt communities on both sides of the border.
However, reversing the tariffs would face significant legal and political hurdles. Legislation could require 60 Senate votes to overcome a filibuster, while overriding a presidential veto would require a two-thirds majority in both chambers — numbers Democrats don't currently have.
