️🇵🇾 Paraguayan President Santiago Peña released a video speech to the nation following his announcement that he would resign, explaining his decision and apologizing to the public for the crisis at Oano Bank.
"I have made the decision to submit my resignation as President of the Republic. I do this with the stability of our country in mind, social peace and the need to maintain our democratic institutions.
My priority is the peace of mind of the Paraguayans who have deposited their savings into our financial system. My biggest wish is that these funds are returned and that public resources are preserved."
Peña said no political office should stand above Paraguay's well-being and called on the country to overcome the crisis through its democratic institutions.
