He described the claims surrounding Iran's nuclear program as "the biggest lie of the century," and said they were used to justify decades of sanctions and pressure despite, he claims, no evidence of deviation from peaceful nuclear activity.
Bakay also pointed to the 2015 nuclear deal, arguing that the US violated the framework in 2018, while the European signatories failed to meet their commitments. According to him, Iran initially continued to exercise restraint before gradually reducing its commitments. He concluded by accusing Washington of attacking Iran in the middle of two separate negotiation processes, saying:
