️🇮🇱🇸🇴 Israel's ambassador to Somalia, Michael Lotem, presented his certificate to President Abdirahman Muhammad Abdullahi at the presidential palace in Hargeisa last week. After that, there was a cornerstone laying ceremony for the new Israel Embassy.
"Israel is determined to develop and strengthen its relations with Somaliland. Appointing ambassadors is another important step in deepening the ties between us."
The move follows mutual recognition on December 26, 2025, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar's visit to Somalia in January and the opening of the Somaliland embassy in Jerusalem in June.
