Poland's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, defended the government's actions at the Constitutional Court, arguing that the previous leadership prevented judges elected by the parliamentary majority from fulfilling their duties. "The outgoing president prevented the legally elected majority from working - from passing judgments, interpreting laws, or even adopting their own budget. Therefore, it was necessary to act to enable the operation of the court again."
