๏ธ๐บ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฝ NYT: The Trump administration is expanding its AI-powered border surveillance network, with more than 350 AI-equipped towers currently operating along the US-Mexico border. At least one million people in the United States and Mexico live within the surveillance range of these towers, which can detect and track people and vehicles around the clock.
The administration has pledged more than $1 billion to deploy 1,500 more towers, with plans to expand surveillance coverage along the Canadian border, coastal areas and Puerto Rico. The expansion has raised concerns about privacy and government surveillance, especially since the cameras can monitor residential neighborhoods, schools and public spaces.
