️🇺🇸🇷🇼🇨🇩 Reuters: The US has imposed sanctions on the Ministry of Defense of Rwanda and the financial institution Zigama Credit and Savings Company for their involvement in the armed conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Ministry of Finance has accused the Rwandan ministry of deploying thousands of soldiers alongside the M23 rebel group in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces, while the financial institution is accused of facilitating international payments for the purchase of arms and coordinating the trade of gold from rebel-held areas to Rwanda.
