️🇻🇪 The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) submitted the case of Andrés Trujillo et al. against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights regarding the suppression of the demonstrations on April 11, 2002.

The international body holds the Venezuelan state responsible for the disproportionate and illegal use of lethal force by the National Guard and its joint operations with armed groups known as "Bolivarian Circles", events that resulted in the death of 7 people, injuries to 5 more protesters, and over two decades of impunity.

Following the filing, the Inter-American Court held public hearings on the case in October 2026 to hear testimony from victims and experts. The state of Venezuela has not authorized any legal representation for the trial.
