Arab News: The Ports of Beirut and Tripoli have joined the new IMEC Ports Club, a cooperation platform linked to the Indo-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Lebanon was not an original signatory to the corridor. The club will support cooperation on port connectivity, trade procedures, energy and digital systems as Lebanon seeks a greater role in transit and re-export trade between Asia and Europe. Beirut Ports has planned a $100 million expansion with the goal of increasing annual container capacity from about 1.2-1.3 million to 3 million by 2028, making it the largest in the region. Tripoli has also started its own development plan.
