οΈπΎπͺπΎπͺπΈπ¦ WSJ: A Houthi missile barrage on a Saudi-backed training camp in Yemen's Shabwa province killed at least 75 people and wounded more than 200 on Oct. 19, in what Saudi and Yemeni fighters described as dead soldiers.
Three ballistic missiles hit the al-Alam camp within minutes of each other, just as hundreds of newly recruited local fighters were gathering for training. Eyewitnesses said one missile was hit as the pilots fled the initial blast, while Saudi nationals were also among the casualties.
Drones reportedly circled the base for days before the attack. Relatives of the dead and wounded accused the local commander of ignoring warnings, while officials said the camp had no air defense or early warning systems. The Sheba authorities are now pressuring Riyadh to provide defense systems as the Houthis increasingly attack concentrations of soldiers and military reinforcements across Yemen.
