The protesters burned pillows placed outside Prime Minister Adi Rama's office as a symbolic invitation to dialogue before marching towards the Ministry of Education. Students are demanding lower tuition fees, greater investment in education and action against corruption, while some are also calling for Rama's resignation.

About 2,500 police officers were deployed throughout the Albanian capital, including rapid intervention forces near the Ministry of Education, amid fears of renewed unrest.
