According to authorities, the investigation is focused on the alleged flow of cash from Venezuela, which was reportedly channeled through Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) to finance the election campaign against current President Daniel Novoa.

The file also names other leaders of the Citizen Revolution movement, such as Rafael Correa and Andres Araos.
