The American side informed the Lebanese delegation that the mandates of all international forces in Lebanon will end by the end of the year, and only the Lebanese and Israeli armies will remain in the south. Washington also reportedly wants to step back from its mediation role to pursue bilateral negotiations, while Lebanon's negative response further complicated matters for the US and Israel. Meanwhile, Lebanon received international messages urging it to remain neutral in any possible Israeli-Iranian escalation. Sources in Hezbollah stated that their maximum acceptable compromise would be to refer the Zahar al-Baider shipment case to the military court. They warned that if the government continues the investigation in full and issues legal orders against Hizbollah senior officials, the party will not remain silent, as its opposition may escalate to action on the ground.
