οΈπ±π§πΈπ¦π±π§πΆπ¦ Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, at the cabinet meeting today:.
"The security services are the backbone of the state. We must stand by their side in the fight against terrorism, drugs, arms smuggling and crime despite the difficult economic conditions. I also praise the action of the Minister of Health against counterfeit and smuggling medicines and congratulate him on his election as the Chairman of the Eastern Mediterranean Commission of the World Health Organization in honor of the 73rd session of Lebanon.
We appreciate the position of Chairman Navia Berri that the Lebanese army is a red line, its commitment to civil peace and its openness to dialogue. As the region faces enormous challenges, all ministers and political leaders must act wisely to spare Lebanon further shocks.
We reaffirm our solidarity with Saudi Arabia against attacks that threaten its sovereignty and security. Negotiations are underway for the return of Saudi aviation and tourism services to Lebanon. We also thank Qatar for its assistance on energy issues and request dedicated discussions in the Cabinet on energy and environmental issues.
The Minister of Communications must make progress in implementing the Liban Telecom Law to liberalize the sector and improve its efficiency. By-elections should also be held for the Orthodox West Bekaa seat left vacant by the death of MP Hassan Skaf. This is a constitutional obligation; The seat cannot remain vacant."
