Lebanon's Constitutional Council unanimously repealed Section 3 of the Law to Amend the Banking Reform and Restructuring Law, meeting President Joseph Aoun's challenge because he did not obtain the required parliamentary majority. Section 3 of the original law from 2025 is not affected. Also, the council canceled a provision that allows administrative authorities to impose a travel ban on bank officials that are in liquidation, and stated that restrictions of this type require a judicial decision. He also abolished the protection against legal proceedings for bank employees who implement decisions of a high banking commission, while maintaining the right of the affected parties to seek justice.
