During Israeli Defense Minister Katz's visit to southern Lebanon yesterday, he was informed about the IDF's operations in the designated security zone and plans for a possible escalation with Hezbollah: the IDF currently controls about 700 square kilometers of southern Lebanon, extending from the Mediterranean coast to the Beaufort Castle area, the Ali Tahr Ridge and the foothills of Mount Hermon. According to a plan initiated by Katz with the backing of Prime Minister Netanyahu, more than 60 villages in the security zone were completely destroyed. About 23,000 houses were destroyed, while about 200,000 Shiite residents remained displaced. Three Christian villages were saved and receive Israeli aid. If Hezbollah violates the cease-fire, the IDF plans to advance towards Nabati and carry out a ground operation westward along the Litani River to the Mediterranean Sea, with the aim of isolating approximately 2,000 Hezbollah Radwan Force operatives, according to estimates, located in 140 villages between the Yellow Line and the Litani River. The plan will include the evacuation of the civilian population to the north before the operation.
