🇮🇳 Reuters: Indian police arrested more than 2,000 protesters and leaders of the Tikan youth movement on Saturday, as authorities sought to prevent a large demonstration in Delhi.

Thousands of security personnel were deployed, mobile internet was suspended in the central business district, and dozens of metro stations and markets were closed. Smaller demonstrations nonetheless broke out across the capital.

The protesters are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over corrections in the voter list that removed about 130 million entries. The Election Commission and the ruling BJP deny the allegations of wrongdoing.
