๏ธ๐ต๐ธ The President of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen, postponed the parliamentary elections scheduled for November 28, 2026 to September 11, 2027, although he had previously pledged to hold them according to the schedule.
The elections were part of Abbas's reform commitments to international partners, including European governments, who urged him to keep his promises.
The postponement comes just weeks after Abu Mazen reaffirmed his commitment to holding the vote, which was the first Palestinian parliamentary election in 20 years.
The Palestinian Authority accused Israel of allegedly placing obstacles in the way of holding the elections on schedule, citing the need to establish appropriate political and security conditions.
