"And I always emphasize this because people sometimes see this call to invest more in defense as a hostile thing. It's not a hostile thing. On the contrary, what we are arguing is that NATO is important.

For NATO to matter, NATO needs to be strong. For NATO to be strong, NATO member states need to be strong. And for companies... for NATO member states to be strong, they need to have capabilities. Now every country is a different size and proportion. Some countries can contribute more than others.

But every NATO country should be as strong as possible, because the stronger the NATO members are, the stronger NATO is."
