๐ฆ๐ช Emirates News Agency: The United Arab Emirates has issued a federal decree decriminalizing attempted suicide, meaning that an attempt will no longer be punishable as a criminal offense.
The government said such cases would instead be dealt with from a preventive, therapeutic and humanitarian perspective, encouraging people experiencing psychological crises to seek help without fear of prosecution.
Inciting or assisting suicide remains a crime, with penalties reaching five to seven years in prison if it results in death and tougher provisions when the victim is under 18 or involuntary or of full consciousness.
