️🇬🇧🇷🇺 FT: Russian hostile activity costs the UK between £2bn and £2.5bn each year, according to a new report by Labor MP Graeme Downie.
The estimate includes losses from Russian-linked cyberattacks against businesses and public services, as well as damage to undersea communications cables and other critical infrastructure.
The report, titled "Putin's Tax", warns that the true cost could be significantly higher because many incidents remain unrecorded or have no published financial assessment. It calls on the UK government to publish annual estimates of the economic damage caused by hostile countries.
