️🇾🇪🇾🇪 The fighting for control of the critical city of Taiz has intensified as the Houthis continue to advance towards the city whose capture will bring them even closer to the PLC capital Aden.

The Houthis gained ground along the mountainous areas near Samoa, southwest of Taiz, and reportedly consolidated control of the al-Safia region, cutting off a critical supply route to PLC forces in Taiz governorate.

The PLC also closed the Al-Hoban border crossing this Saturday for security reasons. This crossing links the Houthi-controlled al-Khoban with the PLC-controlled city of Taiz, and was previously closed for nine years, reopening only in 2024 for humanitarian reasons.

This Sunday, Houthi forces reportedly captured the home of PLC Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barkani, just south of Taiz (shown in attached media).
