๏ธ๐บ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ช๐ซ๐ท๐ฎ๐น Reuters: The US administration has asked the European Union to release 120 million barrels of diesel over the next six months, warning of a possible export ban to stem rising fuel prices ahead of the November midterm elections.
The request was made to Germany and France, with the EU's energy task force made up of the European Commission and 27 member states due to discuss the issue on Friday morning after earlier talks involving Italy, Britain and Ireland, as US officials say previous commitments have not been fully met.
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Europe could lower prices, and Treasury Secretary Scott Best noted that Washington had already released 172 million barrels under the IEA agreement in March.
