They explain that the restrictions are against the common interests of Iran and Iraq and cause difficulties for pilgrims, patients, students and people engaged in economic and commercial activities between the two countries.

Iran called on Iraq to take steps to lift the restrictions and restore normal airline operations, saying it respected Iraq's national sovereignty and valued the countries' long-standing ties.
