The branches are seeking a preliminary injunction that would preserve their access while their legal challenge continues. An earlier order by US District Judge Timothy Kelly restored their access for 14 days after the stores were banned from the White House on September 19.

The organizations say the administration has continued to restrict their access despite the court order, including preventing CNN from fulfilling its duties as part of the White House television repository. The Trump administration claimed that the restrictions were legal and justified for national security reasons.
