I think the neighbors themselves realized that these bases do not bring them security but create insecurity.

The United States has established bases in this country at a cost of trillions of dollars, while deploying huge amounts of airfield equipment, military infrastructure facilities and all kinds of weapons to secure the region.

But not only did these bases fail to help secure the region, they themselves became a security threat. These bases couldn't even defend themselves.
