The network reported separately that Israel remains committed to a military approach to disarming Hezbollah and remaining in the south for the time being. American sources told Salam that the steps taken by the Lebanese government are not enough and that the process of disarming Hizbullah must be accelerated and pursued more vigorously.

According to the reports, the sources warned that no further progress could lead to a deterioration of the situation. Lebanon, meanwhile, has publicly argued that an Israeli withdrawal and an end to Israeli military operations are necessary alongside its efforts to establish a state monopoly on weapons.
