A third interdicted tanker, the Lenore, was also spotted heading west into the Atlantic, while US authorities pledged to seize the vessels and their cargo.

A third interdicted tanker, the Lenore, was also spotted heading west into the Atlantic, while US authorities pledged to seize the vessels and their cargo.

The US Department of Justice has started confiscation procedures related to the three tankers and the approximately 4 million barrels of Iranian oil they were carrying. The US attorney's office in Washington confirmed on Friday that cases involving Tiffany, Majestic X and Noor had been filed, but declined to comment on operational details or future plans.

The tankers are currently sailing at around 8-9 knots, below their normal speeds of 12-13 knots, with their combined cargoes valued at nearly $600 million at current market prices. If they reach a US port, the ships will mark the first Iranian oil to reach American shores since shipments seized as part of an earlier confiscation process in 2023.
