EU Energy Commissioner Jørgensen urged governments to consider measures to maintain storage injections or reduce demand for gas and electricity in a letter. EU gas storage is about 70% full, about 12 percentage points below the level recorded a year earlier.

The European Commission says there is currently no immediate threat to energy security for the winter of 2026-2027, but global price increases remain a concern as the crisis in the Middle East continues to affect oil and gas markets.
