️🇸🇴 The Puntland Maritime Police Force released the oil tanker Sibu 1 after an anti-piracy operation that began two days ago, following the hijacking of the vessel on August 20 by six armed pirates. The Sibu 1 was sanctioned by the US Treasury Department last December for allegedly being part of a "shadow fleet" that helped evade sanctions on Iranian oil products, making it at least the 13th vessel attacked this year off Somalia or in the Gulf of Aden amid the resurgence of piracy in the region.

In the operation, one pirate was killed, four were injured and 15 were captured, while the 20-man crew of the tanker was rescued safely and one policeman was injured.
