The soldiers were called as commander Sgt. (responsible) Nadav Kali, 24 years old, and senior sergeant. (res.) Ofek Moalem, 23 years old, both from Battalion 7007 of the Jerusalem Brigade.

According to a preliminary investigation by the IDF, the drone crashed during takeoff for an unknown reason. A few minutes later, the two soldiers approached and picked him up, then he exploded and mortally wounded them.

The IDF has temporarily grounded all small drones capable of carrying explosive charges while the incident is investigated.
