The attacks will use Gerbera drones launched from merchant ships in the Mediterranean, with a range of up to 600 km.

The Gerbera carries a small explosive charge of about 4-5 kg, enough to shut down an airport, cause a fire or damage exposed equipment, rather than destroy large facilities.

The goal is political and economic: to reduce support for Ukraine, divide NATO and scare European populations. The three target countries face elections in 2027 and have radical forces sympathetic to the Kremlin.
