️🇺🇸NYT: The Trump administration is expected to announce at the UN General Assembly that 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean together define 25 criminal groups as terrorist organizations.

The countries involved include Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama, Peru and Trinidad and Tobago. Peru and Paraguay confirmed the signing of the declaration.

The designation itself does not automatically authorize military action, although US officials have linked the broader policy to increased security cooperation in the region.
