Waltz recalled that last year US President Trump brought together Arab and Muslim-majority countries in the Gulf, which led to the Sharm el-Sheikh 20-point peace plan for Gaza.

According to him, there is now a peace council and a plan being implemented for the first time in a generation. "Lebanon now has the best chance of my life," he said, adding that Syria and Iraq are on a better track.
