Flight KL735 had been flying for about 5 and a half hours when the incident occurred over the Atlantic Ocean. The crew quickly extinguished the fire, and no injuries were reported.

KLM allows passengers to carry up to two power banks in hand luggage, but prohibits their use or charging during flights.
