According to the IDF, Ismail infiltrated Israel during the attack on October 7 and participated in the assault on Tank No. 3 and the kidnapping of three Armored Corps soldiers - Captain Omer Neitra, First Sergeant. Oz Daniel and Sergeant Nimrod Cohen.

Sergeant Shaked Dahan, the driver of the tank, was killed during the attack.

The IDF says that Ismail was subsequently involved in ambushes against Israeli forces and recently promoted additional attacks.
