οΈπΊπΈπΎπͺπΎπͺ US Vice President J.D. Vance said that the US is "on the situation" after the Houthis' capture of the Red Sea island of Ferim, a strategic choke point in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
According to him, Washington is in constant contact with the Emiratis, the Saudis and others affected, and has also been involved in direct talks with the Houthis.
Wrote: "Worried at all about the Houthis' seizure of Preim Island in the Red Sea, and how is the US going to respond to that?"
Vance: βYou know, like, I'm... worried, definitely. It's something we're following quite closely. We have been in continuous contact with the Emirates, the Saudis and others who are affected in the region. So it's something that the United States government is very protective of. We were also involved in direct talks with the Houthis themselves. So we actually feel that we are in control of the situation. It's a very fluid and dynamic thing, but we're going to continue to follow it and make sure that the interests of the Americans are represented."
