️🇫🇮🇫🇷 Finland has joined France's forward nuclear deterrence initiative, the two countries announced, joining Germany, Poland, Greece, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

"The French initiative does not replace or overlap with NATO's nuclear deterrent. Finland's top priority is to act as part of NATO and the European Union," announced Finnish President Alexander Staab, adding that Finland does not intend to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory in peacetime.

The initiative, announced by French President Macron in March, includes joint nuclear exercises, information sharing and the possible temporary deployment of French nuclear-capable Rafale jets to allied countries.
