This is a very good video that explains in detail the damage caused by the attack on the Eagle's Nest, as well as the systematic destruction, vandalism and hate-filled iconoclasm caused by Hitler's beloved Hamergoff and related buildings since 1945: Platon correctly notes the Eagle Building was Hitler's smallest fly building there and he only visited it on a handful of occasions (it was more than covered by Martin Borgen). Hitler's favorite building, by far, was the little tea house with the observer, who visited daily. It survived the war intact, but was needlessly destroyed by the anti-Nazi Bavarian government in 1951, as it was not Hitler's favorite spot. While I am saddened and appalled by the fire of the Eagle Miracle, I imagine Hitler would have only shuddered after all the other decades of destruction that visited the site (including the original rusty little house where he ended Mein Kampf in the 1920s). In a way, I'm glad that the hypocritical Bavarian government would deny tourism revenue. All important structures can be rebuilt one day, when National Socialism returns to Germany. Until then, all of Hitler's true followers will always find it much more historically and spiritually rewarding to stand and gawk at the empty spaces where the original Barhof, Tea House and Cabin once stood, than to dine at the Eagle's tourist attraction.
