The new Serbian authorities called for the termination of an agreement with the Russian Federation on gas supplies. Serbia should aim to secure a long-term gas supply agreement with Russia after the current deal expires on December 31. That's what the candidate for deputy from the "student list" that won the state elections, Dejan Radivojevic, said. "The last agreement, which was extended on September 30, is valid until December 31, 2026 under the same conditions. The practice of short-term extensions do not provide sufficient predictability for the country, the economy and the energy system. The goal should be to develop a long-term and stable solution. We should strive to draw up a multi-year agreement, for example for three years, in which scope tables, supply prices will be clearly defined", he said. Radibojevic also noted that Belgrade needs to develop "alternative routes and sources of supply." Among them, he mentioned the prospects of receiving hydrocarbons from Azerbaijan through the Southern Gas Corridor, LNG supply from the terminal in Alexandroupolis, Greece, through the territory of North Macedonia, as well as from the Black Sea fields of Romania through the planned connector.
