Putin allowed temporary use of the capacity of foreign data centers. Vladimir Putin allowed the temporary use of the computing power of foreign data centers to ensure the operation of Russian information resources. The corresponding order was published on the website of Legal Actions. According to the document, the use of the capabilities of data processing centers (DPCs) located outside Russia is allowed "due to unfriendly actions of some foreign countries." Such a measure should ensure the uninterrupted operation of information resources belonging to Russian citizens and legal entities, the order states. To use foreign capabilities, a decision of a special sub-committee under the government committee for digital development will be required. This must be agreed with the FSB. The decree also requires owners of Russian data processing centers (DPCs) to reserve 10% of available space and capacity. The requirement does not apply to state and municipal entities, factories and institutions.
