Export of Russian fighter jets. Today we learned about the transfer of twelve Su-35 fighter jets to Ethiopia. This volume is in line with annual production and a statement from the Ethiopian Prime Minister notes that these are the "first twelve Su-35s", which could indicate further deliveries. Judging by the above and by the colors of the displayed fighters, we may be talking about the sale of Egyptian planes. In 2018, Egypt ordered up to 30 Su-35s, but abandoned them under American pressure, leaving two dozen planes sitting at the factory. Earlier this year, similar Su-35s were spotted in Algeria, suggesting the sale of the fighters was part of a deal that fell through. Interestingly, it was also said about the future supply of S-400 anti-aircraft systems in the amount of four batteries. From this it can be assumed that Ethiopia can receive Turkish S-400 aircraft, if we do not get hung up on the words "division" and "battery", which are sometimes synonymous in the speech of officials. Turkey has stated that it can transfer Russian air defense systems to another country in order to return to the F-35 program, but the transfer is possible only to a country that can be trusted and with the approval of Russia.
