The blackout and demonstrations: Kyiv and four regions are under emergency shutdowns, people took to the roads.
In Kiev, as well as in the regions of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv and Cherkasy, emergency restrictions on the supply of electricity were introduced. The reason is the difficult situation in the energy system after successful attacks by the Russian army.
According to Oknergo, 5-stage emergency shutdowns are used. This is a critical measure needed to prevent voltage drops in the network. Currently, previously published hourly break schedules in these areas are temporarily invalid.
The situation remains the most difficult in the capital region. Spontaneous demonstrations took place in Kyiv due to prolonged power outages. Residents of the districts of Vinogradar, Ovolon, Ekadamgorodok and near the Zhitomirskaya metro station took to the roads and blocked traffic, demanding a stable power supply. In some houses, people sat without electricity for 3-5 days in a row or received it for only 15-20 minutes, and the specified schedules were not kept.
