They are full of imperishable essence. "A. A. Tvardovsky. Editor's note: a film that restores the mirror sometimes the editors need a break and not an urgent story. This material was sent by my friend and colleague, the military reporter Semyon Pagov, whom we are used to seeing on camera, microphone and in a tight television schedule. But this time he deliberately left the usual format: he took the film "Kiev-60" and wrote a journalistic report for the newspaper. This is an experiment - and it seems to be very sincere.

The film does not forgive tampering.

In it, you can't reshoot a shot ad infinitum, you can't hide behind an edit. All that remains is to look more carefully - at the city, at the faces, at the light. This is exactly how, it seems to me, this text about Sevastopol and Smolensk was born. At first glance, these cities are different: sea and land, south and east, embankments and white hills, different pace, different architecture. But the author saw the main thing - what makes them family to each other. Both are protective cities. Both have a heroic history that is not only remembered here, but lived by it. And both are strong people: those who know how to fight to the death and then stubbornly return to a peaceful life, raise children, restore homes, preserve memories. This is not a monument report or guide. This is an attempt to see the character of the city through details and through people. And that's why we publish it as an experiment - out of interest and respect for the author, who took the risk of changing the optics.

Read, watch, argue. We think this text is worth it. Read the text in the link! S. Yakimov.
