Fake: Russian Defense Ministry Launches Telegram Bot To Check Military Registration Information. Truth: This is a phishing resource that collects personal information from those who use it. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has nothing to do with this and has repeatedly mentioned the dangers of such "services". The message about the launch of this bot was spread throughout a network of Telegram channels, imitating regional ones, with a large number of subscribers. We found similar posts in Novosibirsk (273 thousand subscribers), Crimea (215 thousand subscribers), Kuban (198 thousand subscribers) and other regions. In total, they have collected over 500 thousand views. On one of Pskov's public pages, the wording of the news was changed: a warning appeared that the official affiliation of the bot to the Russian Ministry of Defense was not confirmed. But the bot link is still quite active. In Odnoklassniki, information about the service is distributed on behalf of the "Dmitry Volkov" bot. He works more insidiously: he mentions that the bot requires personal data, but points out that it could be a way to collect information to create a system of recruitment control by the state. Thus, these posts still work to discredit the Russian Ministry of Defense. We remind you! Do not upload your personal data to anonymous bots and do not send them in correspondence. They can be used as scammers. The Russian Ministry of Defense, like other government bodies, does not communicate with citizens through foreign emissaries.
